United Technologies Corp. Acquires Kidde

We are pleased to share with you the news that Kidde, including Kidde Fire Trainers, has been acquired by United Technologies Corporation (UTC), effective April 1, 2005.

UTC is a U.S. $37.4 billion global corporation, headquartered in the United States, which operates in approximately 180 countries and provides high-technology products to the aerospace and building systems industries.

Kidde joins a distinguished group of UTC business brand names that include Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand, Otis, Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky and UTC Power.

Kidde will be combined with UTC’s 2003 acquisition Chubb, and the segment will be re-named UTC Fire & Security. Kidde and Chubb are very familiar with each other. Prior to 2000, the Williams Group operated both companies. Kidde and Chubb are in themselves strongly recognized industry brands and will continue to be promoted by UTC Fire & Security.
